Press Release Distribution

A press release is a written communication distributed to news media for the purpose of announcing something with news value. A press release provides reporters with the basics they need to develop a news story, describing an important event, program, or piece of information that succinctly describes the who, what, where, when, why and how of the story. Press releases can announce a range of news items such as: scheduled events, personal promotions, awards, news products and services, sales, accomplishments, changes in strategy etc.

Lead Time

  • Lead Time is one (1) week depending on the complexity of the press release. Often a client will provide product press releases that involve technical knowledge. The Agency normally prepares ‘in-market’ releases such as for sales announcements.

Activity Plan

  • Step 1: Client provides EASTWEST with a brief
  • Step 2: EASTWEST does research and prepares first draft
  • Step 3: EASTWEST submits to Client for inputs and approval
  • Step 4: Client reverts draft to EASTWEST for revision
  • Step 5: EASTWEST amends the draft and submit final version
  • Step 6: Client reviews for final approval (depending on Corporate approval process)
  • Step 7: EASTWEST disseminates press release via Connect JRM
  • Step 8: EASTWEST does follow-up calls to confirm the media’s receipt of the press release and get an indication of the editor’s interest to publish, or coordinate request for more information, photos, etc.
  • Step 9: EASTWEST enters media feedback onto Connect JRM
