Editorial Opportunities Pitching

Editorial opportunities, also recognized as editorial calendars, are media outlet’s schedule of planned topics to be covered for each issue of a publication. Editorial calendars of relevant publications are the ultimate source of proactive media engagement opportunities, telling what a publication is writing about in advance. The opportunities can turn out to be a press release, an interview, a contributed article or a case study.

Lead Time

  • Lead Time required for sorting an editorial calendar out is a minimum of 3 weeks.

Activity Plan

  • Step 1: EASTWEST and Client agree on a target media list.

Often, the target media will be classified by tier (T1, T2, etc.) according to the relevance of its content to the Client’s business, or the readership, and circulation or reach.

  • Step 2: EASTWEST collates the editorial calendars from target media by way of research or callouts.
  • Step 3: EASTWEST identifies opportunities where Client can tell its story via interviews or article contribution.
  • Step 4: EASTWEST submits a calendar of editorial opportunities to Client.
  • Step 5: Client reviews and shortlists the opportunities. Client confirms interest and advise resources availability (time, spokesperson, content), or decline opportunity.
  • Step 6: EASTWEST then reaches out to the publication to get an editorial brief for submission to Client.
  • Step 7: Client provides EASTWEST with the necessary reference materials.
  • Step 8: EASTWEST coordinates the requirement and sees through the submission/ completion of the activity.
